Super Bowl Snacks

The Super Bowl is this Sunday and everyone loves a good snack while they watch the game.  I am all about cheat foods every now and again, but I especially love it when I can binge on food that tastes indulgent, but is healthier than you think.  None of the snacks below are “healthy foods,” but they are definitely healthier than your traditional Super Bowl snacks.  Everything in moderation, as they say!

I do appreciate that all of these Super Bowl snacks are dairy-free, and several are also gluten-free.  To lighten things up, serve the dips and salsas with vegetables instead of (or in addition to) chips, or go big and just enjoy!

7 Healthier Super Bowl Snacks

1. Vegan Nachos

Mmmm, my mouth is watering just looking at this picture!  I think nachos are a fun way to entertain.  Serve it as a DIY bar and it’s an activity and a snack in one.  Check out this video to get my “Beef” Nacho recipe.

2. Fiesta 7-Layer Dip

I shared this last week as one of my favorite dairy-free recipes, but I had to share it again because it’s the perfect Super Bowl appetizer!

3. Caramelized Onion Dip

You’ll need a big back of potato chips for this incredibly creamy and flavorful onion dip.  I always make a double batch because it goes so fast!

4. Snack Mix

Why buy a mix when you can make your own this easily?  You can customize this any way you want.  Use my recipe as a starting point if you have other favorite add-ins.

5. Homemade Salsa

This is surprisingly easy and healthy if you mix in some sliced cucumbers with the tortilla chips when serving it.  It is your traditional restaurant style salsa that is a classic for snacking.

6. Baked Vegan Onion Rings

Yum!  This healthier version of a classic favorite is baked instead of fried, and is egg free!  I used chickpea bread crumbs to make it gluten-free, but regular bread crumbs would work just fine too.

7. Vegan Chili Fries

Could this be the quintessential Super Bowl snack food?  Set it up like the nacho bar and let everyone make their own stack of fries!
