Hooray for the holidays and an excuse to eat, drink, and be merry! With all of the partying in between the tasks of the season like shopping, wrapping, and decorating, I find it is helpful to have a few simple and quick snacks that you can throw together for entertaining your guests with elegance, but no fuss. Below are a few of my favorite dairy-free holiday snacks that take some help from the store with prepared ingredients. They look festive and taste delicious!
1. Pomegranate Hummus Crostinis
Spread your favorite hummus on toasted baguette slices and top with a few pomegranate seeds.
2. Vegan Brie and Pear Stars of David
Use a small Star of David cookie cutter, (or other favorite holiday shape), to cut shapes into a thawed dairy-free pastry dough sheet. Top with a thin slice of pear and a Chao Creamy Original cheese slice, cut into a small square. Brush with agave and top with another pastry dough star. Place on a cookie sheet, brush with dairy-free butter, and bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes.
3. Pesto Cream Cheese Crostinis
Spread your favorite dairy-free cream cheese on toasted baguette slices or crackers, and top with your favorite vegan store-bought or homemade pesto.
4. Roasted Chickpeas
Toss a can of chickpeas (rinsed and drained) with 1 tablespoon each of lemon juice and vegetable oil, 1/2 teaspoon of Bragg’s or tamairy, and 1 1/2 tablespoons of your favorite seasoning blend. Combine well and roast on a backing sheet at 400 degrees for 35 minutes. These taste delicious while sipping a champagne cocktail!
5. Dairy-Free Cheese Platter
A great cheese platter provides lots of snacking and looks beautiful on a holiday table.
Which of the above appetizers is your favorite? Please be sure to tag me on social media if you make one this season. It makes me so happy to see what you all are cooking (and inspires me too!).
