I am thrilled to have Michelle Cehn from World of Vegan and Vegan Break on the blog today. She creates fantastic vegan “bite sized” videos to inspire, teach, and entertain you on all things vegan, including recipes, tips, and lifestyle. I am a huge fan and I know you will be too for all of the fantastic information she offers in fun, creative ways. Today, we are very lucky to have her share her favorites from the recent Natural Products Expo. Cheesecake, nutella, jello…oh my goodness! Tell us more, Michelle!
The Natural Products Expo is a healthy product industry trade show where thousands of companies debut their newest and most innovative creations. Vegan products have been a growing trend at the Expo over the past several years, so vegan industry leaders, bloggers, and and media representatives flock there to get the first look at what’s coming. World of Vegan was there scouring the show floor and I’m excited to share the sweetest vegan finds from the event with the VeegMama community!
1. Vegan Cheesecake
Daiya Foods revealed a whole slew of new products at Expo this year, including their frozen vegan cheesecakes (which are now available at Whole Foods Market)! These creamy creations come in several flavors including plain, strawberry, chocolate, and key lime. You can quickly pull together a fancy dessert by defrost these cute cakes and decorating them with fresh fruit, chocolate shavings, and swirls of icing.
2. Vegan Nutella
I know I’m not the only one that shed a tear thinking that Nutella was gone from my life when I decided that animal lives were more important than my tastebuds. But that was all for naught, because the new Hazelnut Chocolate Spread from Endangered Species tastes just like Nutella. Get out the crepe pan!
3. Vegan J-E-L-L-O
This is a fun one for all the VeegMamas out there. We all know gelatin is a gnarly ingredient made from pig skin and bones, right? Well, now you can find those little jello cups you ate as a kid—minus the cruelty! Meet: Cool Cups. Just wait for the big smiles that come when your kids find this exciting treat in their lunchbox.
4. Gluten-Free Vegan Brownie & Cake Mixes
Let’s be honest—life as a gluten-free vegan can be tough for some kids who feel like they are missing out on the good stuff. That’s why I was so excited to find this new gluten-free vegan baking mixes from Julie’s Original! (VeegMama note: I am a huge fan of Julie and use her products often on the blog.) Just add oil and non dairy milk and you’ve got yourself a treat that you can send with your kiddo to birthday parties or anywhere else so they won’t miss out on the cake-filled fun.
5. Vegans, galore!
The sweetest find of all at Expo West were all the vegans wandering the show floor. From industry leaders to company owners to bloggers and social media mavens, the event was one giant vegan love-fest. Take a peek at the explosion of vegans, and see if you recognize some familiar faces!
